Nonetheless, I recommend you to read my <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/where-to-stay-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comprehensive guide about the best neighborhoods to stay in Porto<\/a> as it might prove useful before deciding where to book a place to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Stay in Vila Nova de Gaia?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several reasons to decide to stay in Vila Nova de Gaia (as opposed to staying in downtown Porto):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>it is cheaper;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>it is less noisy, because downtown Porto is going through an intensive period of construction &#8211; not only home renovations but also the construction of several new subway stations, the renewal of Bolh\u00e3o&#8217;s market, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>it has waaaaaay less traffic;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you will be closer to the <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-port-wine-lodges-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Port wine lodges<\/a> (which is great if you are a wine aficionado);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you will have an unbeatable view of <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-hotels-in-ribeira\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ribeira<\/a>, one of the most picturesque neighborhoods of Porto.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, there are some AMAZING five star hotels in Vila Nova de Gaia, as you&#8217;ll soon discover on this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the catch?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There is nothing particularly interesting to do in Vila Nova de Gaia, except visiting the <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-port-wine-lodges-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Port wine lodges<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you stay by the river level, meaning at the Cais of Gaia, you will be in a flat area BUT you will have to climb to visit any monument of Porto, with the exception of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourguide.pt\/activity\/palcio-da-bolsa-l4078\/porto-visita-guiada-ao-palcio-da-bolsa-t386184\/?partner_id=H93B56T&amp;cmp=best-hotels-gaia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Stock Exchange Palace<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ordemsaofranciscoporto.pt\/museu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St Francis church<\/a>, which are also at the water level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you decide to stay at the level of the upper deck of Luiz I bridge, you will most likely have a phenomenal view of Porto. You will also have quick access to a subway station called Jardim do Morro, too. Among the various bedrooms available, I had the pleasure of staying in the presidential suite (a friend of mine offered a night as a gift to his wife, and they invited us, their friends, to spend the evening with them), and it was truly a fantastic room: with a private pool, and a standalone bathtub built in a wine barrel. But all the rooms are very spacious, with a private terrace with sun loungers and a minibar with the brand&#8217;s wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/the-yeatman.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=hotels-gaia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">The Yeatman hotel<\/a> you can enjoy an infinity pool with a magnificent view over the Douro River and Ribeira, a spa and a two-star Michelin restaurant. It has a privileged location, right under the Luiz I bridge, so most of the rooms, as well as the corridors leading to the hotel&#8217;s common spaces, enjoy an extraordinary view of the bridge. It&#8217;s something really unique!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/vincci-ponte-de-ferro.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=hotels-gaia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Vincci Ponte de Ferro<\/a> you can also enjoy a seasonal outdoor mini pool, two huge terraces, private parking, gym, a meeting room, restaurant, a bar and also a wine bar. This 4-star hotel has a beautiful garden (with a beautiful view, it should be noted), an honesty bar and even a terrace. Despite being pet friendly (I don&#8217;t understand this recent trend\u2026) it has a very calm and peaceful atmosphere. Furthermore, it has an excellent location, close to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourguide.com\/porto-l151\/porto-the-chocolate-story-at-wow-entry-ticket-t409355\/?partner_id=H93B56T&amp;cmp=best-hotels-gaia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Chocolate Museum<\/a>, 7g roasters (one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-places-brunch-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best brunch places in town<\/a>) and also to <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-port-wine-lodges-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Port wine cellars<\/a>. Being another five-star hotel, it has what we are already accustomed to at this level of hospitality: indoor and outdoor pool (large) with heated sea water, gym, restaurant, spa, sauna and massages (available at an extra cost), a helipad and spacious, well-equipped meeting rooms, entrance to the beach, children&#8217;s playground, as well as tennis courts, mini golf and beach volleyball\u2026 in other words, it&#8217;s a mix between a hotel and an amusement park, especially for families \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/hotelsolverde.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=hotels-gaia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Hotel Solverde Spa and Wellness<\/a> has the \u201cJardim\u201d restaurant, with beautiful views, and which provides Portuguese meals, with lactose and gluten-free options, and vegetarian options. On the other hand, the hotel bar offers live piano music on weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With so many things to do, the difficult part is finding the motivation to get out and go to Espinho beach, which is right next door. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/hilton-porto-gaia.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=hotels-gaia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Hilton Porto&nbsp;Gaia<\/a> also has private parking, a large terrace, two bars, a restaurant, a gym, meeting rooms and even an indoor pool with sauna and spa, which I found delightful.
