Even if you think you have booked your ticket according to your \u201cweather plans\u201d, it\u2019s always good to prepare for a rainy day in Porto, as I have pointed out in the <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-time-to-visit-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article about the best time to visit the city<\/a>.<br>So here is our advice on what to bring and what to avoid when it\u2019s raining in Porto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to bring when it\u2019s raining in Porto<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I advise you to bring:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A pair of <strong>good rain boots<\/strong>. Seriously, I hike for a hobby and it makes a HUGE difference to have proper boots. The end of the world might be happening but if your feet are dry, all good.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>raincoat<\/strong>, to fight both the rain and the wind (another thing I learnt from experience!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A sturdy umbrella &#8211; DON&#8217;T get a bad umbrella because it won&#8217;t last 5 minutes on a rainy day in Porto!<\/span><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shop for good quality umbrellas at Casa Lima (Rua de Santa Catarina, 231) or at Decathlon (Rua de Fernandes Tom\u00e1s, 508), where you can also find affordable rain boots. <\/span><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t purchase umbrellas from the variety stores (we call them Chinese stores) unless you\u2019re desperate, because they will easily break.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to AVOID on a rainy day in Porto<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone size-full wp-image-23540\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/rainy-days-porto-felgueiras-lighthouse.jpg\" alt=\"rainy days porto felgueiras lighthouse\" class=\"wp-image-23540\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other than the standard things to be mindful of, some activities must be <strong>avoided<\/strong> on a rainy day in Porto, such as:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Climbing<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Cl\u00e9rigos tower <\/span>&#8211; for real, if it is rainy it will feel very cold and windy at the top.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going near the Felgueiras lighthouse<\/span>, in <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/what-to-do-in-foz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foz neighborhood<\/a>. The waves are gigantic and you can easily get carried away and drown. There were so many idiots going near the lighthouse to photograph it on a rainy day that the police decided to close the access to it.
