However, in Portugal there are many charming destinations.<br>It&#8217;s time to go Minho, more specifically to the Peneda Ger\u00eas National Park. To help with your trip, I wrote this list of the best hotels in Ger\u00eas. If you want something a bit more funky and relax, explore my list of the <a href=\"http:\/\/portoalities.com\/best-bungalows-in-geres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best bungalows in Ger\u00eas<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to decide where to stay in Ger\u00eas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Peneda Ger\u00eas National Park is huge and, unless you intend to stay there for two months, you have to choose a part of the park to spend your vacations. Therefore, I made a map showing the best hotels in Ger\u00eas of this article according to their location:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Blue<\/strong><\/span>: the C\u00e1vado River is quite extensive but there is a spot when it makes a fork in the shape of a trident, which starts more or less in Pereir\u00f3 and ends in Paradela (already outside the Peneda Ger\u00eas National Park). It is called Albufeira da Cani\u00e7ada, the most popular area of \u200b\u200bGer\u00eas, with lots of restaurants, cafes and tourist services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Brown<\/strong><\/span>: The Soajo area is magnificent. It has waterfalls and viewpoints in the same, but attracts visitors mainly because of its famous granaries (in fact they exist in several villages in Ger\u00eas, not only in Soajo).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0080FF;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Green<\/mark><\/span><\/strong>: even further north than Soajo is Castro Laboreiro, a cute little town that is famous for the breed of dogs of the same name. I use Castro Laboreiro as a base to explore some historical places (the Varziela bridge, for example) or to explore nature (the lagoons are great for swimming). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Orange<\/span><\/strong>: The area around Albufeira of \u200b\u200bthe Paradela Dam (there are lots of Paradelas in Portugal, don&#8217;t get confused) is more remote, because it is located in the most northeast part of the Peneda Ger\u00eas National Park. It does not have much tourist infrastructure, so it is ideal for those looking for a few days of seclusion and in contact with nature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #FFFF33;\">Yellow<\/span><\/strong>: finally, in northeastern Ger\u00eas is hidden what, for me, is truly the pearl of Ger\u00eas: Pit\u00f5es das J\u00fanias, the village surrounded by the most stunning landscape in the region. It is really, really beautiful and ideal for those who enjoy serious hiking. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=18gqDH_Mt0TpWLRKDByTtO9lzU_FK9iQg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best hotels in Ger\u00eas near Cani\u00e7ada<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tourist area par excellence, close to popular sites such as Arado&#8217;s waterfall and the viewpoint of Pedra Bela. It also has good river beaches such as the Alqueir\u00e3o river beach and the Barca river beach, where you can bathe and practice water sports. It has good tourist infrastructure and access to restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The bedrooms are modestly decorated but honestly <em>who cares<\/em>, as the common areas are amazing &#8211; spacious, decorated with comfortable leather chairs and with an entire glass wall overlooking the valley. The decor of the rooms is\u00a0cozy and rustic, which adds to the charm of the hotel. It is called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/quinta-do-bento.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=best-hotels-geres\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Quinta do Bento<\/a> and it is truly mesmerising.<br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/quinta-do-bento.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=best-hotels-geres\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Quinta do Bento<\/a> is a rural hotel with amazing views of the region, both from the dining room but also from the terraces in the bedrooms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotel\u2019s outdoor pool is clean and well-maintained, and large enough for swimming. The garden surrounding the pool is a great place to relax, with chaise longues and tables with chairs available for guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hotel also has an indoor pool, making it perfect for the winter months as well. It has a privileged location, between three viewpoints of Ger\u00eas (the viewpoint of Boneca, the viewpoint of Pedra Bela and the viewpoint of Junceda) and close to several hiking trails. The famous Arado Waterfall is a 25 minutes drive away.<br>In the vicinity of the hotel you can do picnics, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/pt\/carvalho-araujo.en.html?aid=1186505&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2&amp;label=best-hotels-geres\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Hotel Carvalho Ara\u00fajo<\/a> provides cutlery and dishes to its guests. If you are lazy, you can always choose to stay in the living room, as it has a fireplace and a fabulous view.<br>The rooms are simple but airy and very clean. It has a very beautiful view of the sanctuary of S\u00e3o Bento da Porta Aberta and the C\u00e1vado river.<br>On the other hand, it is close to several river beaches, namely Barca beach and Ribeira Ger\u00eas beach. The hotel&#8217;s restaurant is very reasonable and affordable as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a
