What health and safety procedures are you following on your tours to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19?

Over the past months, we’ve been thinking of new ways to look out for each other. We’ve been working on plans to enable social distancing measures – from adjusting our current tours’ capacity to increase the availability of hand sanitizers, and ask our staff and our guests to wear face masks.

But remember that we only provide private tours, which means that you and your travel companions will be the only people on your tour.

We’ve also modified our cancellation policy in order to give you peace of mind while you plan your trip to Porto. This way, you can cancel the tour much closer to the date of the tour, to accommodate last minute changes that may occur with your trip.

We are happy to say that Portugal is one of the first destinations to receive the World Travel & Tourism Council Global Safety Stamp and that Portugal Tourism has recognized Portoalities with the Clean and Safe certification according to the Health Measures in Portugal, which is kind of the cherry on top of the cake.

Here is a list of measures we’ll be taking to serve our guests in person, safely:

  • Before each tour, your tour guide will proceed to a safe and health briefing with all the information on how to comply with basic infection prevention and control precautions;
  • Guests are required to use face masks during our tours – even though we would love to see smiles all over our guests’ faces during the Tours, we will have to ask all to wear a face mask this time;
  • No physical contact with guests (hand-shakes, kisses or hugs), which includes a safety distance of 1 meter when possible; even though we are a nation that loves hugs, kisses or handshakes, we’ll have to keep a safe distance this time;
  • Disinfection of all guests’ hands with alcoholic gel before entering the monuments, restaurants and wine estates – feel free to bring your own hand sanitizer, but please notice that all our partners will be able to provide this.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Yes, tickets must be purchased in advance of the tour. Our tours tend to sell out and we do not take walk-ups nor do we accept cash. This is because of the agreement we have with our partners and the insurance company. Please click on ‘Book a Tour’ on the right-hand sidebar of this webpage to purchase your tickets. Please notice that we do not have a waiting list. However, if a date you prefer is sold out, please email us at sara@portoalities.com and we will try to find a solution

What is included on the price of the tour?

Everything that is included and not included in each tour is listed on the respective tour page

I have food allergies / intolerances – can you accommodate them?

Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) have a dietary restriction or allergy when you purchase your tickets. On the day trips from Porto (the Wine Tour in Douro Valley, the River cruise and Wine Tour in Douro Valley and the Full day tour in Braga & Guimarães) we can accommodate vegetarians, gluten or dairy intolerances.

I am a solo traveler – can I book a tour?

We are afraid not! We have fixed costs to cover on every single tour, and if we accepted solo travelers, the tours would become prohibitively for a solo person. However, if you really wish to join a tour, you have the option to pay for two people and book your tour this way.

I am traveling with children – can they join the tour?

We always welcome kids on our tours, however there are some tours that are more appropriate than others – and this information in available on the respective page of each tour. In any case, if you are traveling with children just let us know on the comment box that appears when you book the tour.

I have mobility issues, can I do your tours?

That depends on the tour that you book – but if you need more information, contact us on sara@portoalities.com.

Are bathrooms available during the tour?

Yes, for sure! Just let your guide know that you need to use one.

What payment methods can I use to pay my tour?

We accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), wire transfers, PayPal and Xoom. For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

I am unable to make my tour, can I have a refund?

Do you have an offer for corporate or private events?
