Best family Hotels in Porto
Pensão Favorita
My first choice on this list of the best family hotels in Porto is definitely Pensão Favorita.
This lovely guesthouse has large suites that can easily accommodate families with kids. It has double suites but also triple ones that can fit up to 5 people. One of the triple suites has a small dining room, which is perfect for an afternoon snack after a day walking in Porto.
There is also a lovely garden on the back, and a very cosy resting room where you can find yourself reading or simply meeting the other guests. It’s perfect!
How to get there: Lapa subway station is a 15 minutes walking distance.
Porto República – Hostel & Suits
This place is quite a surprise. This so-called hostel, located at a quiet neighbourhood in Porto, is very suitable for families with kids. It has not only very spacious dorms but also nice suites where they can easily place a crib or even some extra beds.
Besides the cozy atmosphere, Porto República – Hostel & Suits has a large kitchen (where breakfast, which is included on the price of the room, is served), as well as a big backyard and a contract with a nearby car park.
Last but not least, the location is perfect – close enough to the city centre yet on a quiet neighbourhood, and a supermarket just 1min away. It’s definitely one of the best family hotels in Porto! 🙂

Oca Flores Hotel Boutique
Oca Flores Hotel Boutique is the most expensive option on this list of the best family hotels in Porto, but it’s really worth the price.
This eighteenth century house is located right at the city centre, very close to São Bento train station, but it has an inside yard and a swimming pool that makes it perfect for families with kids.
Oca Flores Hotel Boutique has both room and lofts / studios for rental. I believe the best option for families with kids is to rent a loft or a studio, as you’ll have all the kitchen facilities you might need during your stay in Porto, but access to the hotel’s facilities (and an amazing breakfast waiting for you everyday!).
How to get there: São Bento subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance.
Ceuta Terrace Suits
Ceuta Terrace Suits has the most amazing family suit, with 2 large bedrooms and a living room with sofa bed. Moreover, I personally ADORE the charming 1950s decoration, as it is very unique and charming 🙂
Ceuta Terrace Suits has a very central location, just a few minutes away from Aliados subway station and surrounded by dozens of restaurants within a 3 Block radius.
But the hotel is so cute – and it has such a phenomenal terrace, where you can have their incredible breakfast – that you will never want to leave this place 🙂
How to get there: Trindade subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance.
Moov Hotel Porto Centro
Usually I assume that parents prefer to rent an apartment than to stay in a hotel but I think that Moov Hotel Porto Centro is one of the best family hotels in Porto due to its versatility.
If you stay at this hotel you can choose between double bedrooms, twin bedrooms or – my very favourite option – a superior room with TWO double beds AND a sofa bed. I don’t know about you, but this would have been a lovely solution when I travelled with my parents and my sister.
The Moov Hotel Porto Centro might not be the most charming hotel but it is affordable, it has an excellent location close to Batalha square and a lovely terrace on the backyard.
How to get there: São Bento subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance.
Fabrica Lux Apart
Fabrica Lux Apart do not offer as much privacy as other options on this list of the best family hotels in Porto because there is practically no physical barrier between the double bedroom and the living room (but some parents might actually prefer it to be like this!).
On the other hand, it has a lovely terrace where you can sip some Port wine while overlooking the city.
This apartment is located close to Lello bookshop and just a couple of minutes away from both São Bento train station and Aliados subway station, making it one of the most convenient apartments in town.
How to get there: Aliados subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance.
Hotel Spot Family Suites
The Hotel Spot Family Suites is called “Family Suites” for a reason. Families appreciate the spacious rooms that can comfortably accommodate everyone. The rooms are also soundproof, ensuring a peaceful environment for families. The hotel offers amenities that are suitable for families with kids, including free breakfast and children’s television networks (which can be particularly helpful when traveling with kids!). The hotel’s central location is a hit, as it is within walking distance of many attractions, making it easy for families to explore the city.
How to get there: Trindade subway station is a couple of minutes walking distance.
Marquês Garden House by Olivia
Marquês Garden House by Olivia is a place that families truly appreciate. The rooms are spacious and soundproof, ensuring a peaceful environment for everyone. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, perfect for enjoying warm, balmy days. There is also a magnificent garden out the back, which provides a peaceful place for families to relax. The house itself is over 100 years old and retains all the features that once represented the stately homes of the wealthiest families, adding a touch of architectural charm to your stay.
Marquês Garden House by Olivia is located in a quieter area called Marquês; you can walk to the city centre (it’s around 20 minutes walking distance) or you can simply take the subway and get there in 5 minutes.
How to get there: Marquês subway station is a few seconds walking distance!
Best apartments in Porto for families with kids
Condes de Azevedo Palace Apartments
I think Condes de Azevedo Palace Apartments is a great option for families with kids because it has several different types of bedrooms: all of them have a large bed for adults, and then you can have either individual beds, sofa beds or even bunk beds (I used to love them when I was a kid!). And, of course, it has a garden 🙂
I also really like its location, close to cathedral of Porto but far away from the nightlife district. I would definitely recommend it as one of the best family hotels in Porto!
How to get there: São Bento subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance, as well as the bus hub in Campo 24 de Agosto.
Mouzinho 160 Apartments
For families that would rather stay at an apartment, I strongly recommend Mouzinho 160 Apartments. It’s a-ma-zing: very central, incredibly cozy, spacious and with a lot of light, and it has all the amenities for a pleasant stay in Porto.
Some of the apartments are sound proof – something essential of you’re a light sleeper like myself.
A local tip: make sure that you book one of the apartments that have balconies, as the views are gorgeous from there and it’s definitely a great spot to serve a sunny breakfast to your kids! 🙂

Bom Jardim Apartments
You shouldn’t tell anyone about Bom Jardim Apartments because it is not only one of the best places to stay in Porto but one of the very few with a swimming pool in the city centre. No wonder that it gets such phenomenal reviews from anyone staying there but specially from families!
These apartments can accommodate up to 4 people that are distributed in a large double bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room.
It has an amazing location, close to Trindade, the central subway station in Porto.
How to get there: Trindade subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance.
BnApartments Carregal
When I was a little girl, my mom used to put me on diapers and let me roll free on the grass, much to the dismay of the rest of the family. I was what you’d call a tomboy – and she respected that, which is why I have such great memories from my childhood.
Such sweet memories always make me fall in love with places with grass, which I think are great for kids! This is why I am recommending BnApartments Carregal, an amazing complex with independent apartments with a giant swimming pool and a big, big garden!
Another reason why BnApartments Carregal is one of the best family hotels in Porto is that it has bikes for rental, free car parking and a transfer service from the airport (for an additional cost).

Porto Insight Apartments Cardosas
When talking about the best places to stay in Porto with kids it is inevitable to talk about Porto Insight Apartments Cardosas. These apartments are located in Largo dos Loios, a premium location in between the famous São Bento train station and Avenida dos Aliados, so you couldn’t possibly ask for a better location.
The apartment itself is very convenient for families because it has a lovely living room with a wardrobe that is actually a double bedroom for the kids. The adults, on the other hand, have a charming bedroom for themselves.
Two commodities that make Porto Insight Apartment even more comfortable and convenient is the existence of an elevator (something rather unusual in the buildings in Porto) and a car park, in case you are planning to rent a car.
How to get there: São Bento subway station is just across the street.
River Front
I picked these apartments because they have the most wonderful view towards the Douro river. They are located in the most touristic area of Porto, Ribeira, very close to Luis I bridge and to the famous Port wine cellars.
They are also within a 10min walking distance from São Bento train station, and from Rua das Flores, a lovely street filled with street artist and souvenir stores. It’s ideal for a walk with your kids!
How to get there: São Bento subway station is a 10 minutes walking distance – but always going uphill!
Urban Apartment Casa da Portela
I completely fell in love with Urban Apartment Casa da Portela because it has one of the most scenic views of Downtown Porto.
This is not exactly one of the best family hotels in Porto but rather a large loft (55m^2) where a young family can fit comfortably.
The kitchen is particularly well equipped but if you don’t feel like cooking there are plenty of good bakeries and restaurants in this area.
How to get there: São Bento subway station is a 5 minutes walking distance.
